Scope note:

Japanese marbled paper created using the ancient technique of suminagashi, literally ‘ink dropped in water’; in which inks mixed with pine resin are dropped onto a bath of water in the marbling tray, and gently manipulated into a pattern then transferred to a sheet of plain paper.
