Anotations

Scope note:

Ancient Sardinian towerlike structures, dating from the Bronze and Iron Ages; generally associated with villages, built on hilltops, and having tapering sides and corbel-vaulted interior spaces. Many are large, but others are small. The purpose and function of the structures are not entirely understood; among the possible uses are location markers, religious temples, rulers' residences, military strongholds, or meeting halls.
