Scope note:

Species of mahogany tree growing throughout southern Asia from Afghanistan to Papua New Guinea and Australia. It grows best in an environment with high light levels; in the relative darkness of the rainforest understory it is susceptible to moth attack. Cultivated for timber and as a shade tree.
