Scope note:
A wooden war canoe. Described in the Florentine Codex, it was used on the lake of Texcoco and its canals by the Mexica during battles with the Spaniards. The term also refers to a quadrangular, canoe-shaped shield, part of the array of the detiy Totoltecatl.
