Scope note:

The Sundanese are an Austronesian ethnic group native to the western part of Java, Indonesia, numbering approximately 42 million and comprising Indonesia's second largest ethnic group. Their homeland, known as Tatar Pasundan or Pasundan, encompasses the provinces of West Java, Banten, and parts of Central Java, with diaspora communities also present across other Indonesian islands and regions. Believed to have originated in Taiwan and migrated through the Philippines around 1,500–1,000 BC, the Sundanese speak the Sundanese language and carry a genetic heritage reflecting a mixture of Austroasiatic and Austronesian ancestries.
